Who saw “Hisardut (Survivor)” last night? Great way to practice your Hebrew with the subtitles. Until I saw “גו גתר”.
Here was me sounding it out in the second before the audio caught up.
“Gav? Gav ga-TAHR?”

Sometimes my disdain for these Hebrish words overwhelm me. Then again, as I sat in ulpan today with an American friend, I realized how nice it is to use them. Example:
Ani lo choshev sheh'ha'amerikaim muhchanim lkabeil et ha'FACTS OF LIFE b'yisrael ca'asher hem aliti l'yisrael.
I think about What War Zone??? just about every day as I say:
Ech omrim "plunging neckline"??? (true story)
Hebrish = Hebrew English
There's a real word for it...what is it? Hewglish? Jewglish?

Leo Rosten, in the Joys of Yiddish, defined "Yinglish" as Yiddish words that are influenced by English in the USA and the UK and "Ameridish" as Yiddish words that are spoken almost exclusively by speakers in the USA.
I don't think I've heard the equivalent for Hebrew, though.
