I did eat chumus in Abu Gosh a few weeks back. Could this have anything to do with it? Or maybe it's my dirty Arabic vocabulary.
On that note, good Lord, are you people familiar with the food called koosemet? If that's hasn't caused hilarious and embarrassing social interactions, then my name is Billy Ray Chickpea. That's like eating from an American salad bar and having to ask the kitchen worker if they have more "mothertucker."
Aleph, can someone tell me how to say "koosemet" in English and, bet, if you don't understand what this is all about...umm...I don't know what to tell you.

Koosemet is buckwheat, dude!
Luckily, I don't like buckwheat and hopefully won't have to order it any time soon because, without a doubt, I would not pronounce it correctly.
Actually, I went to my handy-dandy dictionary because I just couldn't believe it was a FOOD. I second the translation and now depart from the conversation because I just can't stop laughing.

I can't stand kasha, buckwheat, OR koosemet (in that order). Besides, kasha vs. koosemet is also a bit of an Ashkenazi vs Sepharadi deal.
Its KoosemeK with a K at the end, and it means in arabic your mother's coochie.

Thanks for reminding me of my most embarrassing moment ever. I was on the (very crowded) bus leaving Hebrew U for downtown motzei shabbat (Yearcouse) and forgot to hand the bus driver my cartisiya. He asked me for it after I was way toward the back of the bus. Attempting to yell to him that it was in my pocket I accidentally said...well, you can figure it out. The entire bus laughed hysterically and he told me to keep it! ;)
